Interior design, but make it personal, practical, and a little bit thrilling.

Okay, yes... I design more than facilitation plans and strategy documents. I do interior design too. But obviously you know that, because you’re on this page.

The Gem Hunt is for people who want their space to feel more beautiful, thoughtful, collected, and alive (without accidentally spending $4,000 to make it look like a beige waiting room). This is design support for real homes, rentals, Airbnbs, cottages, small spaces, weird corners, and rooms that are almost working but need someone with taste, patience, and a willingness to hunt.

What is The Gem Hunt?

The Gem Hunt is design support for people who want help pulling a space together without losing their personality, budget, or will to live somewhere between the rug search and the lamp decision. It can be a consult, a room plan, a sourcing list, a full refresh, styling guidance, or support turning a tired space into something that feels warm, intentional, and actually lived in.

Think:
  • less showroom
  • more collected
  • less panic scrolling
  • more “wait, where did you find that?”
  • less buying everything new
  • more finding the right piece
  • less design ego
  • more space that feels like you

THE FULL EXPERIENCE

The Gem Hunt is a flexible design experience for spaces that need direction, sourcing, styling, or a full little glow-up.

You do not need to know exactly what you need before reaching out. That is part of the hunt.

Step 1: Tell me what’s going on

Send the room, the budget, the photos, the weird corner, the couch you are fighting with, and the vibe you are trying to get to.

Step 2: We name the direction

We figure out what the space needs: a consult, mood board, sourcing, styling, setup support, or a fuller refresh.

Step 3: I hunt for the gems

I help source the pieces, colours, textures, layouts, and details that make the room feel collected, practical, and personal.

Step 4: The space starts making sense

You get clearer direction, better pieces, fewer panic purchases, and a room that finally feels like it knows what it is doing.

Basically: less "something feels off...", more “ohhhh, that’s what was missing.”

From “it has potential” to “okay, wait… this is cute.”

The Gem Hunt is not about making every room look the same. It is about noticing what is already there, figuring out what is not working, and helping a space feel more intentional, useful, and beautiful.

Here are a few before-and-after moments that show what a thoughtful shift in layout, styling, colour, sourcing, and overall direction can do.

If you are looking at your space thinking “there is potential, but I need help seeing it,” that is kind of the whole point.

The room technically has furniture, but no personality.

Your Airbnb photos are not doing the space justice.

You want a high-end look without high-end nonsense.

You are open to vintage, thrifted, Marketplace, or unexpected finds.

You need someone to stop you from buying the wrong rug.

You want your space to feel warm, collected, practical, and very you.

The person behind the hunt

Meet Your Designer

Hi, I’m Gem, professional overthinker of lamps, layouts, and why your room feels almost right.

I’m Gem, the eye behind The Gem Hunt.

I believe good design should feel beautiful, personal, functional, and a little bit exciting — not like you panic-bought an entire showroom set because the room was stressing you out.

My favourite spaces feel collected, warm, layered, practical, and lived in. I love mixing old and new, high and low, thrifted and polished, sentimental and useful. A good room should tell the truth about the people who live there, while also gently hiding the cords, the clutter, and the questionable decisions we are ready to release.

The Gem Hunt is for people who want help finding the right pieces, not just more pieces. I care about budget, flow, texture, lighting, proportion, comfort, and whether the lamp is doing enough emotional labour.

I can help you figure out what to keep, what to move, what to source, what to stop buying, and what tiny detail will suddenly make the whole room make sense.

Ready to send me on the hunt?

Tell me what you’re working with — the room, the budget, the weird corner, the couch you regret, the vibe you want, and the thing you cannot quite name yet. We’ll figure out what kind of design support makes sense from there.

The Gem Hunt is a design offering by Gem / Good Conditions. Same eye for conditions. Different kind of room.
