How we work
Our Approach
Good Conditions works from the belief that people are not machines. Much of our work is built on the reality that we are biological systems, and strategy only works when it respects the nervous system of the people carrying it. We design strategies that can breathe, pivot, and rest, moving away from rigid templates and toward living methodologies.
Stop fixing the symptoms. Change the conditions.
A lot of work gets stuck because people keep responding to the symptoms—the missed deadlines, the friction, the exhaustion, the burnout—without looking at the soil. If a plant is wilting, you don’t just paint the leaves green. You look at the water, the light, and the space in the pot. We look at the conditions making your work possible, or impossible, so we can change the outcome from the root up.
VALUES
The non-negotiables
Pleasure must be present.
Pleasure is not the opposite of serious work. It is one way we know the conditions are changing.
Care does not mean self-abandonment.
You cannot care for a system by destroying yourself in the process. Sustainability requires healthy boundaries.
These are the values that shape the work. Not decorative values. Not “put them on the website and forget them” values. Actual working values.
Living comes first.
The work serves the life, not the other way around. We respect the nervous system and the humans it belongs to.
Urgency is not a personality.
Urgency is often a symptom of inadequate conditions. We slow down to move with more precision and care.
Community is not decoration.
We work in relationship. We are accountable to the people affected by the conditions we create together.
Fun and free is our currency.
Freedom allows for creativity. Creativity allows for change. We prioritize the space where both can exist.
Intent does not equal impact.
Being a “good person” isn’t enough. We look at the actual outcomes of our systems and behaviors.
We disrupt Sunday Scaries.
Strategic change doesn’t have to feel like doom. We find the vitality in the mess and work from there.
How we behave in the work
Values are cute. Behaviour is where things get real.
Sarcasm, used lovingly.
We use humor to cut through the tension. Not to hide from it, but to make it more movable. It’s a tool for truth-telling, not a shield for avoidance.
Unfiltered but gentle honesty.
We say the hard things, but we say them with a soft voice. We don’t confuse professional distance with coldness. We care enough to be clear.
Structure with softness.
We believe in strong containers for messy conversations. We provide the framework so you can provide the humanity. Rigor shouldn’t feel rigid.
Beauty as a strategy.
We believe in the power of well-designed ideas. If it feels right, it’s easier to live with. Beauty is not a luxury; it is a way we honor the work.
Better questions before faster answers.
We resist the urge to jump to solutions. We stay in the question until the answer becomes inevitable. The speed is in the depth.
Discomfort without abandonment.
Change is uncomfortable. We stay in the room with you while it happens. We don’t ask you to go anywhere we aren’t willing to sit ourselves.
Practical magic.
We look for the small shifts that create big openings. We combine strategic logic with the things that can’t be measured but can be felt.
Because pretending we all have the same capacity all year is, respectfully, nonsense.
Seasonal strategy
Capacity shifts. The work should too.
We do not live in one long, flat line of high productivity. We are seasonal beings. Most strategy treats time like an infinite resource and humans like machines that never need to reset. Good Conditions works with the seasons. We plan for the expansion of Summer, the harvest of Fall, the rest of Winter, and the messy, fertile rebirth of Spring. We don’t fight the rhythm; we use it to build capacity that actually lasts.

Summer
The season of High Visibility and Maximum Outreach. Use this energy for the big launches, the loud stages, and the high-energy collaborations.
Fall
The season of The Harvest and Strategic Culling. What worked? What needs to go? We reap the rewards and prepare the soil for what is next.
Winter
The season of Restoration and Internal Alignment. No new launches. No big noise. We go inward to ensure the nervous system of the business is regulated.
Spring
The season of Emergence and Testing. New ideas start to poke through. We don’t rush them; we provide the conditions for them to take root.
This might be the right approach if…
You’re tired of “fixing” symptoms only for them to show up in a different outfit two months later.
✓
The standard corporate productivity scripts make you feel like you’re failing at being a person.
✓
✓
You want strategy that respects your nervous system.
✓
You’re ready to admit that capacity is not a constant, and that’s actually fine.
✓
You have a hunch that pleasure and efficiency are not enemies.
